The Gestational Journey – From Preconception to Postpartum

Sat, 13 October 2018, 8:00 AM – Sun, 14 October 2018, 5:00 PM [GMT]

The Millenium Gloucester Hotel & Conference Ctr, 4-18 Harrington Gardens, London, Greater London, SW7 4LH, United Kingdom.

Parenthood, as a stage of life, can be transformative, exciting and beautiful – AND it can also instigate worries, concerns and at times complications and hardships.
The wonder of the human body is that it is constantly changing, and never is this more evident than during pregnancy, however as a woman transforms through the many phases of motherhood, these changes can become overwhelming, anxiety-inducing and confusing – particularly if there are any health issues.
The Gestational Journey summit brings together some of the world’s leading experts in the field of fertility, nutrition, diagnostic testing, hormone health and much more, to provide functional doctors, nutritional therapists and other healthcare professionals a chance to learn and gain incredible insight in order to fully and safely support women who wish to conceive, are already pregnant, or who have recently given birth.

As a mother herself, The Gestational Journey summit co-founder, Robyn Puglia – who is a Clinical Nutritionist specialising in functional medicine – discovered that there were many missing pieces to the fertility jigsaw puzzle. During both of her recent pregnancies, it became evident to Robyn that while there was a multitude of generic information on pregnancy itself – there were also big gaps in the accessible knowledge around many areas – such as supporting those with an existing autoimmune condition, caring for women during the postpartum phase and safe nutritional supplementation.

The Gestational Journey summit has been designed to bring together some of these missing pieces in one comprehensive two day event.

The summit brings together thought leaders from around the world to carefully and considerately address each phase in detail. From understanding the importance of preparing the body nutritionally prior to conception, supporting assisted fertility, learning about the importance of ensuring a healthy gut microbiome, how to optimise the womb environment, as well as understanding how to support autoimmune conditions during pregnancy, plus exploring how to support women after birth from a physical point of view, but also crucially from a mental health perspective.

The Gestational Journey summit has been created to provide any practitioners who work with women – whether specifically in the area of fertility or not – with a complete educational package enabling them to support their female patients through this miraculous time of their life.

Attendees will leave feeling empowered, educated and confident that they can provide their clients with all the information required to maintain optimum physical and emotional wellbeing from preconception to postpartum.

guest lecturer: diet, dna and the power of nutrigenomics

Presented by:
Angela Heap Dip Nut (CNM), Fertile Ground Nutrition Emma Beswick Dip Nut (CNM), Lifecode Gx Founder

A presentation on why and how to use DNA testing in practice, including considerations when choosing a test; and how to analyse and interpret results – starting with single genes and SNPs that affect specific food and micronutrients and quickly building up to more complex, and interesting, biochemical pathway analysis.

We will discuss the need to join the dots and need to consider the interconnectedness of genes with other genes, cofactors and inhibitors across systems. Angela will present the key genes and variants impacting methylation, neurotransmitter levels, and steroid hormone pathways and how DNA and functional testing can help inform nutritional therapy protocols to achieve and support hormone balance, fertility and pregnancy.
